Foulques (2)

Foulques (surnamed the Great), a French writer of sacred history, was born in the first part of the 11th century. He was the thirty-first abbot of Corbie; assisted as such at the Council of Rheims in 1049, and at the Council of the General States in 1065, at Corbie. He is noted for his long contest for the privileges of his Church against two bishops of Amiens. He died in 1095. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
