Expilly, Louis Alexandre
Expilly, Louis Alexandre a French prelate, was born February 24, 1742, at Brest. He studied at Paris, and was made bachelor of divinity there; was nominated pastor of St. Martin of Morlaix; in 1789 became deputy of the states-general; was consecrated bishop of the department of Finistere, February 24, 1791, and shared the fate of twenty-five of his colleagues, who were beheaded, May 22, 1794, for having taken an appeal to the department of the West against the national convention.
