Ely, Samuel Rose, D.D.
a Presbyterian minister, was born at West Springfield, Massachusetts, December 29, 1803. He graduated from Williams College in 1830, studied theology for two years in Princeton Theological Seminary, and was ordained by the Presbytery of Westchester, N.Y., December 4, 1834. He served as pastor at Carmel, from 1834 to 1836; at Easthampton, from 1836 to 1846; at Brooklyn, in 1850; and as stated supply at Roslyn, from 1853 until his death, May 11, 1873.
