Ebbo, Saint

Ebbo, Saint twenty-ninth bishop of Sens, was born at Tonnerre (Burgundy). He was of a noble family, but entered the monastery of Saint-Pierre-le-Vif; was elected abbot of it, and soon succeeded his uncle, St. Gericus, bishop of Sens. He spent the latter part of his life in a hermitage at the village of Arce, where he died in 750. He is commemorated August 27. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
