Diacenism

Diacenism (Gr. διά, through, and καινός, new), a name formerly given by the Greek Church to the week after Easter, as being the Renovation or first week of the festival of our Saviour's resurrection. On the fifth day of that week the patriarch of Constantinople, along with the bishops and principal clergy, were formerly accustomed to begin the day's services with a ceremony in the imperial palace in honor of the emperor.
