Deza, Pedro
Deza, Pedro a Spanish prelate, was born at Seville, February 24, 1520. He studied at Salamanca, where he obtained a chair as professor of law; afterwards became official of Compostella, auditor of Valladolid, archdeacon of Calatrava, member of the inquisition, and finally president of Grenalaa in 1569. He obtained the cardinal's hat in 1578, went to Rome two years later, and died there, August 27, 1600. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
