Desire of All Nations
Desire of All Nations (חֶמדִּת כָּלאּהִגּוֹיַם, the delight of all the nations; Sept. τὰ ἐκλεκτὰ πάντων τῶν ἐθνῶν; Vulg. desideratus cunctis gentibus) is an expression (Hag 2:7) usually referred as a title to the Messiah (see in Henderson, Comment. in loc.), but denoting rather the choicest treasures of the Gentiles (comp. Isa 60:3-7), which are figuratively represented as an oblation to the Messianic dispensation (see Moore, Comment. in loc.; Sartorius, De venturo gentiue Desiderio, Tub. 1756).
