Denton, Richard
Denton, Richard a Presbyterian minister, was born in the north of England. He was among the first of the Puritans who came to America. The records show that he settled in Weathersfield, Connecticut, about the middle of the 17th century; thence he went to Hempstead, L.I.; and subsequently served the Church in Jamaica. He has been called the father of the Presbyterian Church in America. (W.P.S.)
