Danukobi
Danukobi in Hindu mythology is a celebrated pool, or bath which Vishnu dug for himself and Siva. It lies near Pondicherry, on the peninsula this side of the Ganges, near a large temple of Siva. The spot is sacred for another reason. It was the place where the ape-king Hanuman met Rama, when they both: undertook the journey to Ceylon. This bath is visited by innumerable parties of pilgrims; whoever bathes in it is purified from all sin, but he must bring water from the Ganges with him to wash the Lingam of the pagoda, and he is obliged to sleep on the bare earth, without covering, during the entire pilgrimage.
