Cyneswitha

Cyneswitha (Cynesuith, Cynesuuith,Kynesuith, Kynesuuith, Kyneswith, or Kineswitha), an English saint, was a daughter of Penda, king of Mercia, and his queen Cynwise or Cyneswith. Her sister Cyniburga and three of their five brothers, Ethelred, Merewald, and Mercelinus, were also reckoned saints. She had been betrothed to Offa, king of the East Angles, but gave him up to become a nun in her sister's convent, "Kineburgae Castrum" or "Castre." Both' the sisters were present at the hallowing of Medeshamstede (afterwards called Peterborough), in the reign of their brother Wulfhere, and their names are attached to his charters. They were both buried in their own convent, and in the 11th century their remains were removed to Peterborough.
