Curwen, Hugh
Curwen, Hugh an Irish prelate, was a native of Westmoreland, and became dean of Hereford in 1541. On October 20, 1555, he became archbishop of Dublin; in 1557 was constituted one of the lords-justices of Ireland; in June, 1559, was appointed keeper of the great seal of Ireland; in 1560 was one of the spiritual lords, who sat in the Parliament; in 1563 was again constituted lordchancellor; in 1567 procured his translation to Oxford, and spent one year there.
