Cuernert, Dirk

Cuernert, Dirk (or THEODORE VAN), a Dutch engraver, was born at Amsterdam in 1522, and lived chiefly at Haarlem, where he was more noted for religious controversy than for attainments in the art He died in 1590. The following are his chief works: The Descent from the Cross; Joseph Explaining his Dream; Joseph Interpreting the Dreams of his Fellow Prisoners; Job Reproached by his Wife; Balaam and his Ass.
