Cross, William
Cross, William an English Wesleyan missionary, was converted at the age of twenty-one; in 1827 was sent to New Zealand, in 1829 to the Friendly Islands, and in October 1835, with Cargill, to the cannibals of Fiji. He remained at his post until his death, October 15, 1842. The story of his trials and dangers and marvellous successes may be found in the Life of Cross, by John Hunt (Lond. 1846, 12mo).
