Cowell, Edward
Cowell, Edward an English Congregational minister, was born at Ewood Bridge, near Blackburn, February 7, 1830. He became an efficient local preacher among the Wesleyans, but afterwards joined the Congregationalists. In 1862 he supplied the pulpit of Providence Independent Chapel, Marsden, and the following year became its pastor, being ordained September 29. He accepted an invitation to Bretherton in September 1874, where he labored happily and successfully for five years. He died February 9, 1880. See (Lond.) Cong. Year-book, 1881, page 365.
