Contant, Pierre
Contant, Pierre an eminent French architect, was born in 1698 at Ivry-sur-Seine, and studied under Watteau. He erected the convent of Panthemont and the church de la Madeleine, in Paris, and also designed the beautiful church of St. Waast, at Arras. He died at Paris in 1777. See Spooner, Biog.
