Conn, Hugh
Conn, Hugh a Presbyterian minister, was born at Macgilligan, Ireland, in 1685. He studied at the school in Fanlghanvale, and afterwards at the University of Glasgow. A Presbyterian congregation having, through London merchants, who carried on a trade with the Patapsco river, Maryland, secured him as their minister, he was accordingly sent over, ordained, and installed October 1715. After two years' service he obtained leave from the presbytery to resign his pastoral charge, on account of his want of success and the paucity of his flock. He received a call from Pomonkey, in the New Castle Presbytery, which he accepted, and was installed. He died almost instantly, June 28, 1752, while preaching at the funeral of a person who had died suddenly. (W.P.S.)
