Colvius, Andrew
Colvius, Andrew a Protestant divine, was born at Dort in 1594. He became minister of several Walloon churches, and at length of that in Dort; and in 1620 went to Venice as chaplain to Paul Sarpi, whose work on the Inquisition he translated into Latin (Rotterdam, 1651). He died in 1671. He was an industrious writer in some branches of science, philosophy, and poetry, and published, in 1655, a Catalogus Muscei Andraea Colvii.
