Codman John, Dd
Codman John, D.D., a Congregational minister, was born in Boston Aug. 3,1782; graduated at Harvard 1802, and studied law until the death of his father, when he commenced theology, and completed his studies at Edinburgh. After preaching a year in Great Britain, he came back to America, and was ordained pastor in Dorchester, December 7, 1808. In 1834 he went to England as delegate to the Congregational Union of England and Wales. He died Dec. 23,1847. He was made D.D. by the college of New Jersey, 1822, and by Harvard, 1840. Dr. Codman published a Visit to England (1835); Sermons (1834, 8vo); and a number of occasional discourses. — Sprague, Annals, 2, 492.
