Clerk, William (1)
Clerk, William (1), a Scotch clergyman, was appointed to the living at Anstruther in 1565 as the first minister of the Protestant religion; in 1567 Kilrynnye was also in his charge, and in 1574 Abercrummy was added. He died in February, 1583. He was a man of most happy memory for godliness, wisdom, and love of his flock, the light and life of his parish, and beloved of all sorts of persons. See Fasti Eccles.
