Christophorus
Christophorus (Χριστοφρος, Christ-bearer), an epithet applied originally to Christians, especially to martyrs, as "bearing all for Christ," and therefore "bearing Christ." It afterwards became a proper name (Christopher). See Eusebius, Ch. Hist. 3:10; Bingham, Orig. Ecclesiastes bk. 1, ch. 1, § 4.
