Chisholm, William (1)
Chisholm, William (1)
a Scotch prelate, brother of James (1), came into the see of Dunblane by the resignation of the bishopric into the hands of pope Clement VII, and was consecrated at Stirling April 14, 1527. Chisholm was a great adversary to the reformation. He alienated the episcopal patrimony of this church, most of which he gave to his nephew, Sir James Chisholm, of Cromlix. He died in 1564.
