Chartres, Council of
Chartres, Council Of
(Concilium Carnotense), was a provincial synod held on the third Sunday after Easter, 1146, at which all the French bishops were present, together with the king, Louis VII. - The object was to arrange matters relating to the crusade, and to-persuade St. Bernard to accept-the office of leader, which, however, he constantly refused.
