Chandler, George Clinton, D.D.

a Baptist minister, was born at Chester, Vermont, March 19, 1807. He was baptized in 1825, and licensed to preach in 1831; graduated from Madison University in 1835, and from Newton Theological Institution in 1838; preached as a missionary among the Indians, and at Terre Haute, Indiana; became pastor at Indianapolis in 1839, president of Franklin College in 1843, in 1850 of the new Baptist college in Oregon, but soon resumed missionary work; became pastor at Dalles in 1874, and died there in November of the same year.
