Chalgrin, Jean Francois Therese
Chalgrin, Jean Francois Therese an eminent French architect, was born at Paris in 1739, and studied under Moreau and Boulet. Having gained the grand prize of the academy, he went to Italy, but soon returned to Paris. Among his principal works is the Church of St. Philippe du Roule, and the Triumphal Arc de l'Etoile.
