Carter, Herbert a native Wesleyan Methodist missionary was converted early; embraced Methodism at the cost of much sacrifice; was called to the ministry in 1843; was one of the first of the native ministers of the Wesleyan body ordained in Jamaica, W.I., and died at Ocho-Rios, Jamaica, Sept. 29,1861.
