Capponi, Orazio
Capponi, Orazio, an Italian prelate, was born at Florence. He was made bishop of Carpentras in July, 1596, and, at his own expense, rebuilt and embellished the principal edifices of this place. He also formed a mont-de-piete, and made several donations to the hospitals and to the community. Dec. 17,1597, pope Clement VIII appointed him rector of the province of Venice. Capponi died at Rome, March 29, 1622. He published, Recueil des Ordonnances dans l e Comtat Venaissin' (Avignon, 1661). See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.'
