Brownlee, James

Brownlee, James a Scotch Presbyterian minister, was born at Torfoot, Avendale, Lanarkshire. He graduated at Edinburgh University, received a private theological education, and in 1798 was licensed to preach the Gospel. He was ordained pastor of the Church at Falkirk, May 20, 1799, where he labored until his death, May 24, 1821. Mr. Brownlee was an humble Christian, an affectionate friend, a devoted pastor, an earnest preacher, and a ripe scholar. See (N.Y.) Ref. Dutch Church Magazine, 1828-29, page 353.
