Brinkley, John

Brinkley, John an English prelate and astronomer, was born in 1763. He graduated from Caius College, Cambridge, in 1788. In 1826 he was appointed bishop of Cloyne, in Ireland, having been previously for many years professor of astronomy in Trinity College, Dublin. His death occurred September 14, 1835. Dr. Brinkley was eminent for his knowledge of mathematical science and astronomy.
