Brewer, Jehoida

Brewer, Jehoida a Welsh Congregational minister, was born in Wales in 1752, and died in Birmingham, 'England, in 1817. He is described as "a profound theologian, a popular preacher, and an earnest man." Mr. Brewer was the author of the hymn found in many collections, commencing with the line, "Hail! sovereign love, which first began." See Belcher, Historical Sketches of Hymns, page 96. (J.C.S.)
