Brame, John Todd, Jr.
son of the above, a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Newbern, N.C., June 1, 1820. He grew up under the sole care of his devout, widowed mother; was weak in frame, but possessed of uncommon mental strength. He matriculated as freshman in Randolph Macon College in his fourteenth year; experienced conversion while there; graduated in 1838, and was made A.M. in 1841; and in his nineteenth year was admitted into the North Carolina Conference. He died September 9, 1845. Mr. Brame was remarkable for his tender filial affection, for the extent and accuracy of his acquirements, for the purity and impressiveness of his style of preaching, and for his devotion to his work.
