Brainerd, John (2)
Brainerd, John a Presbyterian minister, was born at Haddam, Connecticut, February 28, 1719. He graduated at Yale College in 1746. Soon after his graduation he was licensed to preach, and began his labors as a missionary among the Indians in the West, where he spent the greater part of his life. He was employed by the Church in many important missions, all of which he filled with great satisfaction to his presbytery. He died March 18, 1781. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer. Pulpit, 3:153.
