Bonieval, Ruffo De

Bonieval, Ruffo De, a French theologian, brother of Sixte Louis Constant, succeeded M. de Beauvais in the episcopal see of Senez, and, like his brother, showed himself very hostile to the principles of the revolution. He left France and sojourned for a long time at Viteribo when the pope bestowed on him a pension. At the period of the first Concordat he resigned the bishopric of Senez, refused the archbishopric of Aries, returned to France in 1814, and died in 1830. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
