Bennett, William Wallace, D.D.

a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was admitted to the Virginia Conference in 1842, and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1850. In 1862 he became a chaplain in the Confederate army, and in 1866 editor of the Richmond Christian Advocate. In 1877 he was elected president of Randolph Macon College, which position he held until 1886; He died July 6, 1887. He was a member of every General Conference of his church since 1858, and delegate to the OEcumenical Conference of 1881. See Minutes of Annual Conferences of the M.E.
