Bassett, Amos, Dd

Bassett, Amos, D.D., a Congregational minister, was a native of Derby, Conn. He graduated from Yale College in 1784; was a tutor there from 1789 to 1793; was ordained pastor of the Church in Hebron, Conn., Nov. 5, 1794, and'remained there until Sept. 28, 1824; was appointed, in that year, principal of the Foreign Mission School in Cornwall; was installed pastor in Monroe, Conn., in 1827. From 1810 to 1827 he was a member of the corporation of Yale College. He died in 1828. See Sprague, Annals of the Amer. Pulpit, 2, 294.
