Bassani, Jacopo Antonio
Bassani, Jacopo Antonio, an Italian preacher and poet, was born at Venice in 1686. He belonged to the Jesuit Order, and preached in nearly all the cities of Italy. He counted among his auditors at Rome and Bologna pope Benedict XIV. He sojourned habitually at Padua, where he died, May 21, 1747. He wrote Thirty Sermons (Bologna, 1752).
