Baldwin, Edwin

Baldwin, Edwin a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church South, was born in Georgia in 1828. He emigrated to Mobile, Ala., in early life; served as volunteer, in the Mexican War; studied and taught elocution for some time after the war; experienced conversion in 1850; immediately began preaching, and in 1854 was admitted into the Alabama Conference, in which he served till his decease, Jan. 9, 1866. Mr. Baldwin made himself an orator and a scholar by his own exertions. There was a soldierly manner in his preaching that made him very popular and powerful.
