Bacon, Samuel
Bacon, Samuel was an American missionary. In 1820 he was sent by the government of his country to establish a colony in Africa, and on March 9 of the same year he arrived at Sierra Leone with eighty-eight colored people. They penetrated as far as Campelar, upon the Sherboro River; but on the way he contracted a malady, of which he died, May 3,1820. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale. s.v.
