Baader, Johann Michael a German painter, was born in 1736. He studied at Paris in 1759, and in 1788 went to Eichstadt, his native city, to serve as painter to the bishop of that place. He painted pictures of home life and also historical subjects, among others The Daughter of Jephthah. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
