Ayliff, John
Ayliff, John an English Wesleyan missionary, was born in London. He emigrated to South Africa in: 1820; was admitted as a probationer for the ministry in 1827; was the first missionary appointed to the Fingoe tribes; was manager of the large and important Industrial-school at Heald Town; visited England in 1860; was soon disabled by disease, and died at Fauresmith, Orange Free State, May 17, 1862, in the sixty-fourth year of his age. Ayliff was faithful to his trust, enduring privation and encountering danger in his earnest and faithful service.
