Articles, Irish
Articles, Irish The articles of religion of the Protestant Church of Ireland, numbering one hundred and four, were probably drawn up by archbishop Usher, and adopted by the Irish Episcopal Church in 1615. They are in striking agreement with the Westminster Confession, and may be found in Schaff, Creeds of Christendom, 1:662; comp. 3:526. They were ignored, however, by the Irish convocation of 1635, and the thirty-nine articles of the English Church have ever since been the standard of the Irish Church also.
