Aponte, Pedro

Aponte, Pedro a Spanish bishop of Majorca and theologian, lived in the early part of the 16th century. He was first apostolic inquisitor in the province of Arragori and at the Balearic Isles, when he aspired to episcopal honors. In 1519 he wrote, at the request of Leo X, a Breviarium Ordinis Redemptorum MSS. Ttinitatis. Aponte himself bore a part in this monastic order. See Hoefer, Nouv. Biog. Generale, s.v.
