Aphses
Aph'ses or, rather, PIZ'ZEZ (Heb., Pitstsets', פַּצֵּוֹ, dispersion, with the art., הִפַּצֵּוֹ, hap-Pitsets; Sept. Α᾿φεσσή v. r. Α᾿φεσή; Vulg. Aphses), the head of the eighteenth sacerdotal family of the twenty-four into which the priests were divided by David for the service of the Temple (1Ch 24:15). B.C. 1014.
