Andre, Yves Marie
Andre, Yves Marie a French Jesuit, was born May 22, 1675, at Chateaulin, in Lower Brittany, and settled at Caen, where he was professor regius of mathematics from 1726 to 1759. He died Feb. 26, 1764. He is chiefly known by Essai sur la Beau, of which a new edition was given in the collection of his works in 1766 (5 vols. 12mo). His Trait sur l'Homme is highly esteemed.
