Anacletus or Cletus
Anacletus or Cletus bishop of Rome, said to have been elected A.D. 78 or 83, and to have died A.D. 86 or 91. The Roman Church honors him as a martyr, as she does the other popes who lived during this period, upon the ground that those among them who were not actually put to death by the sword did not suffer less for the faith. — Baillet, July 13; Eusebius, lib. 3, cap. 13, 15.
