Alvelda (or Albelda), Juan Gonzales De

Alvelda (Or Albelda), Juan Gonzales De, a Spanish Dominican, was born at Navarrete, diocese of Calahorra. In 1608 he was called to Rome, and appointed first regent of the college of St. Thomas della Minerva. After three years he returned to Spain, and filled the first chair in theology at Alcala, from 1612 to 1622, when he died. He wrote a Commentary on the first part of the Summa of St. Thomas (Alcala, 1621).
