Alton, William

Alton, William OF, so called from the town of Alton, in Hants, was a Dominican who flourished some time before 1267. A MS. in the librarv of St. Victor of 1267 speaks of the postils of William of Alton upon Ecclesiastes and the Book of Wisdom. These latter postils were printed at Rome among the works of St. Bonaventura. He also left Commentaries on Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Lamentations.
