Allamu

Allamu a Chaldaean name of the deity Nergal. Allan, a Scottish bishop, was a native of Galloway, and became bishop of the Isles in 1305, and was one of the Scotch clergy who recognised king Robert Bruce's right to the crown in 1309. He died Feb. 15, 1321, and was buried at Rothesay, in the Isle of Bute. See Keith, Scottish Bishops, p. 301.
