Alemdar

Alemdar an officer of some distinction among the emirs, or descendants of Mohammed. He may be called the standard-bearer; for when the sultan appears in public on any solemn occasion, the alemdar carries Mohammed's green standard, on which is inscribed Naz-rum-nim-Allah ("Help from God").
