Alaba (or Alava) Y Esquivel, Diego De
Alaba (Or Alava) Y Esquivel, Diego De, a Spanish prelate of the 16th century, was born at Vitoria, the capital of Alava. He studied at Salamanca, and was made bishop of Astorga, in which capacity he attended the Council of Trent. After his return he was made bishop of Avila, and lastly of Cordova. He died Feb. 16, 1562, leaving a work entitled De Conciliis Universalibus ac de his quce ad Religionis ac Reipub. Christ. etc. (Granada, 1852, fol.). See Aspilcueta, De Rescrip. No.
