Afflitto, Giovanni Maria

Afflitto, Giovanni Maria, an Italian Dominican. was born near the close of the 16th century. Hea devoted himself to the study of mathematics, and especially to the art of defence. He died at Naples in 1673. He was called in Spain Don Juan of Austria, and was the author of a treatise on fortifications, besides certain theological and philosophical writings. See Hoefer, Nouv.
